Beyond the Classroom: Launching the “Phygital Educator” Transformation in Bambili
Last Saturday at the Campus Crusade Hall in Bambili, we officially launched the Nexus EdTech: Phygital Educator Pilot Program, marking the beginning of a structured shift toward digital teaching competence among educators and student-teachers.
What began as a planned cohort of 30 participants has already grown to over 40 active participants, reflecting a strong demand for practical digital transformation in education.
From Traditional Teaching to Visible Professional Identity
The focus of the session was clear: moving from passive digital presence to intentional professional visibility.
We introduced participants to Chapter 2: Professional Digital Identity, grounded in the principle that in today’s world, an educator who cannot be found or understood online is increasingly disconnected from opportunity networks.
Key Learning Areas
1. Professional Identity on LinkedIn
Participants were guided on how to structure a credible LinkedIn profile, including headline positioning, professional summaries, and building relevant academic and industry connections. The emphasis was on consistency and intentional visibility rather than passive account creation.
2. WhatsApp as a Professional Tool
We reframed WhatsApp from a purely social application into a practical communication and organization tool for educators. Participants explored how features such as labels and catalogs can support structured communication with learners and peers.
3. Introduction to the Digital Teacher Playbook
The Digital Teacher Playbook was introduced as the core working document for the 4-week sprint. It is not a theoretical manual but a structured workbook used to track tasks, outputs, and progress toward certification.
Closing Insight
The session marked the beginning of a structured transition process. The focus now shifts from understanding concepts to producing measurable outputs over the coming weeks.
